Oceanside, San Diego County
The Oceanside Pier stretches 1,954 feet over the surf, one of the longest wooden piers on the West Coast. The first pier here went up in 1888, and the present one, the sixth, opened in 1987. Anglers line the rails, surfers ride the breaks on either side, and the walk to the end takes about ten minutes.
